'War'
was
a
fortnightly
pamphlet
distributed
to officers
of the
British
Army
from
September
1941,
to keep
them
abreast
of military
matters,
the
state
of the
war
in other
theatres
and
reports
of actions.
'Current
Affairs'
was
issued
fortnightly
in the
alternate
weeks
and
also
provided
information
but
more
on the
background
to military
matters.
The
pamphlets
formed
the
basis
for
officers
to lecture
to or
talk
informally
with
their
command,
to help
explain
why
they
were
fighting
and
to explain
the
customs
and conditions
in the
countries
where
they
might
be asked
to serve.
