What the modern Georgian woman was reading in 1800, each with an original hand coloured fashion plate

We offer for sale, separately, the six consecutive monthly issues of The Lady's Monthly Museum or Polite Repository for the first six months of the year 1800 which had been bound as one volume. (all now sold)

As often happened with such periodicals the original outer wrappers had been discarded and a new title page and index had been added to the bound volume. In time this volume had become so worn that it was starting to fall apart, in fact some pages of text were already missing. Normally when such a volume reaches this stage any plates would be salvaged and the remainder thrown away.

Loath to throw away anything which might shed light on our social history of over 200 years ago we have separated the volume into its original monthly parts (which didn't take much doing), each with its original hand coloured fashion plate for that month (measuring just over 6.5 inches by 8 inches) and we offer them for sale below. The original volume title page is with the January issue and we have included a facsimile of it with each other month.
